Sharetec Service Disruption

Who is Sharetec and what do they provide to Thrive?

Sharetec is our core software provider. They are the foundation of our processes that run all transactions, along with online banking and debit cards. Our core processes are on one server while our online banking and debit cards run on another together.

What Happened

On 9/15/2026 the cooling infrastructure at the data center failed and temperatures rose inside quickly. This caused some of the data storage to malfunction, and failover processes did not have time to complete. This resulted in hundreds of credit unions losing connectivity to this provider and losing access to core systems, online banking, and regular debit card functionality.

What Did Not Happen

This was a service availability event caused by physical equipment failure, not a cybersecurity incident. There has been no data breach and no unauthorized access to your systems, your data or your members’ data; member funds are secure and member account records are intact.

Response and Recovery

Sharetec personnel have worked around the clock since 9/15/2026 to restore all credit union services. In order of restoration, Sharetec has confirmed that online banking will be the last to be restored. They have decided that all credit unions must have core systems back in place before online banking and debit card limits will be brought back, to allow more staff to focus on getting all credit unions back up. This allows their team to focus without splitting up.
