LOCAL STAYCATION IDEAS FOR A FUN SPRING BREAK

The last couple years have been tricky for traveling.  If you’re ready to venture out with the kiddos but not stray too far, Muncie and nearby towns may have some hidden gems you forgot about.  If you’re looking for local activities to do this year for spring break, we’ve put together some ideas for local to-dos, eats and indoor activities to keep the boredom at bay!

Things To Do:

Bouncyland (Muncie) 
Bouncyland is Indiana’s largest inflatable bounce house facility for ages 0-12! We have 15 bounce houses and a toddler zone for ages 0-3.
There is also an arcade and My Plushy Pals where you can create your own stuffed animal.  Concessions available.
Gibson’s Skating Arena (Muncie)
Gibson Arena, family owned & operated for 80 years.  They offer public skating sessions, birthday parties, skating lessons, fundraiser opportunities and a Pro Shop.
Escape Muncie (Muncie)

Escape Muncie is Muncie’s premier escape room experience! Find clues, unlock codes, and discover the solution to get out. You have 60 minutes!

Escapades (Muncie)

Fud’s Video Games (Muncie)

Fud’s Video Games in Muncie is a locally owned and operated used video game buy/sale/trade/play located in the White River Plaza.  There is a great arcade in the building and all day passes are available for only $8!

Muncie Children’s Museum (Muncie)

Explore, create and discover throughout MCM’s 18 interactive, hands-on exhibits! For free sand art at the gift shop, color this St. Patrick’s Day picture and take it in with you during your visit! Click here

Minnetrista and Bob Ross Experience (Muncie)

FREE:  Family Adventure Day is Wednesday, March 23, 10 AM – 6 PM.  Community event, choose your own adventure at Minnetrista!  You can always explore the Backyard Garden with koi fish pond, free of charge.

PAID:  Explore the life, philosophy, and art of the iconic American painter inside the historic home where The Joy of Painting was filmed. The immersive exhibit features original paintings and artifacts, inspiring visitors with Bob’s message of fearless creativity.

Ball State – Charles W. Brown Planetarium (Muncie)

“To Space and Back” planetarium show with interactive sky.  Suitable for all ages, free of charge admission on March 19, 2022 5 pm – 6 pm.

Just for Kids Yoga (Muncie)

The only yoga studio in the state of Indiana designed just for kids!  Evening classes available for all ages, most classes drop off only.

Morrow’s Meadow (Yorktown)

Get outdoors and explore nature at Morrow’s Meadow Park.  Walk the paved trail, explore the riverbed and get some fresh air.

Garfield Statue Trail

Visit 16 unique statues of America’s favorite lasagna-loving fat cat, Garfield. Located in and around Muncie, the statues are molded in rigid polymer and situated on a 31 inch base. Each statue measures approximately 48 inches in height and depict Jim Davis’s Garfield in fun outfits or playful situations. Go on Safari

Tons of stuffed animals laying around?  Put them to good use!  Hide them around the house, throw on your safari hats and binoculars (made from toilet paper rolls taped together) and go searching for some wild animals!

Indoor Camping Trip

No bugs on this trip!  Pigs in a blanket, s’mores (in the microwave of course) and some good stories by flashlight.  Put your blanket fort building skills to the test if you don’t have a tent.  Time to get comfy and play some board games!
