Credit Unions United for a Cause – local Delaware County credit unions – will celebrate International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) on Thursday, October 17 with a day of kindness. Ball State Federal Credit Union, First County Federal Credit Union, Industrial Centre Federal Credit Union, and PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union will be sending out “kindness crews” to perform random acts of kindness throughout Delaware County. The kindness crews will be buying your coffee, paying for your lunch, bringing you donuts, offering assistance with bagging your groceries (and supplying the bags), and many more random acts of kindness to celebrate the ICU Day’s theme of Credit Unions Do Good. The credit unions only ask for one thing in return, “pay it forward”. If you are treated to a random act of kindness on October 17th, please pay the kindness forward to another Delaware County citizen.
ICU Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement’s history and to promote its achievements. It is a day to honor those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, recognize the hard work of those working in the credit union industry and show members their appreciation. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the great work that credit unions are doing around the world and give members and non-members the opportunity to get more involved.
